A stock transfer form is a document that spells out the conditions of transferring company shares from one person to another. It is also known as "share transfer form." The person/company giving shares is called "transferor" and the recipient is called "transferee."

In the UK, you need to file stock transfer forms if the consideration (the worth of stocks) is 1000 pounds or more. In this case, you need to send them to Her Majesty's Revenue and Customs for stamping, as well to pay a certain fee.

How do you transfer shares from one person to another?

In the USA, you can transfer shares from one person to another via selling them on the stock market, moving them to a broker's account, or as a gift in presence of a guarantor (a broker or an authorized bank representative).

It is also suitable to register the transfer with the company whose shares are being transferred. If you wish to transfer the shares or stocks in more than one company or use a document which allows you to have more control over the terms of the transfer you should use our Share Transfer Agreement Template, or alternatively use several stock transfer forms (one for each type of share or stock being transferred). If the company registry in your state or country requires the execution of a standard form Stock Transfer Form then this template may not be suitable for registration with the registrar and you may have to sign an additional document. Even if this document will not be accepted by the company registrar in your country or state it should still be sufficient to create a binding contract of sale between the two parties.
