  • A commercial proposal could be a number of things. For example, it could be a business proposal from a seller of products and/or services to a buyer. It could be a proposal for a business venture. It could also be a business proposal or “business case” to take a certain action within a business. This commercial proposal template focuses on the last of these, but may serve as a useful example for any of the above.

  • A commercial proposal usually has an executive summary, a detailed problem statement, costs needed to address that problem, the proposed solution, and the estimated return on investment. It has also has an attractive cover page and a place for signatures to accept the proposal.

  • The six key types of business project proposals are: formally solicited (response to a request), informally solicited (no official RFP is made), unsolicited (no request is made), continuation (a follow up), renewal (extending support), and supplemental (providing additional resources).

  • A commercial offer has two meanings. The first is that there has been an offer made to exchange something in return for compensation. The second refers to a document between a buyer and a seller indicating that they’ve entered into a professional relationship.
