When a business looks to add on new software, or to change their existing software, they usually get in touch with a software developer who can build a solution for them based on their needs. This solution is given through a proposal, which is known as a software development proposal.
RFPs allow an IT business to get bids from multiple developers. The company can then choose a bid which makes most sense for their business and is also economically viable for them.
A typical software development proposal starts with an introduction and cover letter. In the executive summary, it expands on project goals, deliverables, integrations and the general approach. A project overview features resources required to complete the project, risks and obstacles and a timeline (milestones). Finally, the document need to include pricing and payment terms.
The common 6 types of a project proposal are formally solicited, informally solicited, unsolicited, continuation, renewal and supplemental.

Our software development proposal template lets you create and customize a persuasive online proposal that’s sure to be signed.
